Our Commitment to a Safe Campus
Kamal Institute of Higher Education and Advanced Technology (KIHEAT) is firmly committed to maintaining a campus environment that is safe, respectful, and free from all forms of ragging and harassment. The institution takes a zero-tolerance stance against ragging in any form — whether physical, verbal, psychological, or digital — and ensures that every student can pursue their education with dignity and without fear.
The Anti-Ragging Committee of KIHEAT operates in strict compliance with the directives of the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and upholds the regulations set forth under the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009.
What is Ragging?
As defined by the Supreme Court of India and the UGC, ragging constitutes any act that causes or is likely to cause physical, psychological, or emotional harm or apprehension to a student. This includes:
Legal Framework & Regulatory Compliance
KIHEAT's Anti-Ragging Committee functions within the framework of the following regulations and judicial directives.
UGC Regulations, 2009
The University Grants Commission mandates that all higher educational institutions establish Anti-Ragging Committees, Anti-Ragging Squads, and Mentoring Cells to prevent and address incidents of ragging on campus and in associated premises.
Supreme Court Directives
The Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, in its landmark judgment in Vishwa Jagriti Mission vs. Central Government, directed all educational institutions to implement strict anti-ragging measures, upholding that ragging is a violation of a student's fundamental rights.
Punishments under the Law
Depending on the severity of the act, punishment for ragging may include:
- Suspension or expulsion from the institution
- Cancellation of admission
- Withholding of scholarships or academic benefits
- Filing of First Information Report (FIR) with the police
- Imprisonment and/or fine as prescribed under applicable law
About the Anti-Ragging Committee
The Anti-Ragging Committee of KIHEAT is a formally constituted body responsible for the prevention, monitoring, and redressal of ragging-related incidents within the institution and its surroundings. The committee operates with full institutional authority and is empowered to take immediate and decisive action upon receipt of any complaint.
The committee comprises:
The committee meets regularly to review the campus environment, assess preventive measures, and ensure that all regulatory requirements are being met in letter and spirit.
Anti-Ragging Squad
In addition to the Committee, KIHEAT maintains an Anti-Ragging Squad that conducts surprise inspections across the campus — including hostels, canteens, common areas, and entry points. The Squad is empowered to take immediate on-the-spot action and report findings directly to the Committee.
Mentoring Cell
KIHEAT's Student Mentoring Cell works in close coordination with the Anti-Ragging Committee to ensure that all newly admitted students are assigned senior student mentors who guide them through their transition into college life. The Mentoring Cell plays a proactive role in building a culture of respect, inclusion, and peer support from the very first day.
How the Committee Protects Students
Prevention
The committee conducts orientation sessions for all incoming students, ensuring they are fully aware of their rights, the definition of ragging, and the strict consequences for perpetrators. Anti-ragging declarations are collected from all students and their parents at the time of admission, as mandated by the UGC.
Monitoring
Regular inspections, surprise checks, and active surveillance across campus premises ensure that the environment remains safe at all times. All hostels, common areas, and institutional boundaries are kept under consistent oversight.
Redressal
Every complaint received — whether submitted in person, in writing, or through anonymous channels — is treated with complete seriousness and confidentiality. The committee ensures prompt inquiry, fair proceedings, and swift action in all cases.
Support for Victims
Students who experience or witness ragging are provided with full institutional support, including counselling, academic assistance, and protection from any form of retaliation. The identity and interests of the complainant are protected at every stage of the process.
Support Available to Affected Students
KIHEAT recognises that coming forward to report ragging requires courage. The institution is committed to ensuring that no student who raises a concern ever faces further harm, disadvantage, or isolation as a result.
Every student at KIHEAT has the right to a safe, respectful, and dignified college experience. The institution stands fully behind anyone who chooses to speak up.

The Anti-Ragging Committee stands as a guardian of that promise, and every member of this institution — students, faculty, and staff alike — shares the responsibility of upholding it.
